Plateau’s

Some great insight today from swimming coach Terry Laughlin.

“Life is not designed to hand us success or satisfaction, but rather to push us with challenges that make us grow.  Mastery is the mysterious process by which those challenges become progressively easier and more satisfying through practice. The key to that satisfaction is to reach the nirvana in which love of practice for its own sake (intrinsic) replaces the original goal (extrinsic) as our grail.”

It’s often hard to remind ourselves that life can just become a general series of plateaus.  Don’t settle for such a life.  The mastery of learning, applying what you’ve learned and practicing with great habits is a meaningful investment in your life and your profession.
