As a leader there are certain issues and results that you simply can’t compromise on. There is a bottom-line impact to nearly everything as you lead. If you put your comfort and/or the comfort of others ahead of success, you are setting the stage for worse results with everyone.
To be a leader that is “fair” means that you uphold and personally demonstrate the standards of the work. You do so without compromise. Being a part of an organization that has clear expectations for meeting goals and for living by the standards produces great mission and great performance. The shared purpose comes first.
Organizations and leaders that will not compromise create incredibly enriching experiences for those that engage with.
