Who is best to decide whether you are successful or not at something? Within the mindset and standards of a disciplined applied learner, it is most often yourself. Real improvement comes with you continuously meeting a higher than standard level of success.
Applause from others doesn’t dictate success. Anyone can win once in a while, but your disciplined standard is set much higher to be the very best version of yourself. Measure yourself against the absolute best that you are capable of achieving. Short-term setback will matter less if you discipline yourself to focus on long-term improvement to your higher standards. We are never as good as we think, but with higher standards we will be better.
