Who You Pick

We all seek advisement along the way to set our course.  Who do you seek input from when facing a challenging circumstance or decision?  Do we go to the one that we know will push us to our limits and force us to work through our resistance?  Or, do we go for the great listener that will comfort us onto an easier path?  The people that are on the steepest growth curves look for the advisers that push them toward growth.

Josh Waitzkin in his book, The Art of Learning, shared a related example from a jiu-jitsu fighter in training.  “When the top competitors are five rounds into their sparring sessions and they’re completely gassed, they look for the hardest person there — the one who might beat them up — while others look for someone they can take a break on.”

Who you pick to relate with and guide your learning curve determines your course.
