Recognition

A reminder of well-researched facts from Chip and Dan Heath (The Power of Moments) that indicate leaders dramatically underinvest in effective recognition:

  • 80% of supervisors say they frequently express appreciation, while less than 20% of employees agree
  • Effective recognition is personal, not programmatic
  • A small investment of effort yields a huge reward for the recipient
  • Moments of pride commemorate people’s achievements

Apply what you have been reminded of here today.  Authentically praising others is a lift for you as well.  We shouldn’t become so distracted that we lose the habit of regularly and genuinely recognizing others.
