Start with the positive. Steven Hawking is quoted as stating, “When you complain, nobody wants to help you.” The nature of focusing on complaint closes the minds of others to the many constructive opportunities that are there to be envisioned and realized together. There is very little to gain when you feel that you first need to tear down current reality.
Leading and looking upward with a constructive direction is a source of growth and progress that draws more constructive behaviors and actions to build from. Stephen Hawking didn’t focus his interaction and relationships with complaint about his many obvious limitations. He instead lead with optimism and brilliance to open the minds of millions to his scientific theories, depth, and creativity. Why would he begin with complaints? Why would we?
“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose, and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.” — Stephen Hawking —
