It’s quite impossible for you to discover something new or to find a better way of doing something if you won’t keep an open mind. It is easy for us to fool ourselves into believing that we couldn’t or shouldn’t possibly learn more to discover a new or better way. In fact, it is often more comfortable to simply close the mind to new possibilities so that we can stand in place with our current routine.
Take another look at your deepest routines in life. Are there new discoveries to be made? If you have always done it a certain way, you’ve likely allowed yourself to believe that you have the right and only answer.
Are you sure that there isn’t a better way to do something if you would look to discover one? Remain curious, look at your routines through a different lens to discover what you don’t already know.
“The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance – it is the illusion of knowledge.” — Daniel J. Boorstin —
