Limitations

We all begin with personal limitations. It sometimes takes us awhile to comprehend these limitations. It took some time before I was able to grasp the reality that I would never play professional football as I dreamt of as a kid. Too short, too slow, too small, etc.

We also encounter asserted limitations, those placed upon us by others and by the conditions/fate of life itself. It also took some time for me to realize that how we deal with these asserted limitations, matters greatly as well. I am still learning.

Life is not perfectly arranged for our success, there are limitations. We must continue to remind ourselves that our mindset and actions for dealing with these realities is critical. Even as you face unalterable conditions, you still seek to learn to find the best way. Each of us is free to do so if we choose to.

To go on or to stop will always be your choice to make. You are limited of course in less than ideal conditions, but you already knew that. You’ve grown to expect these conditions, even anticipating adversities in advance with earned wisdom. You move forward to your meaning and your purpose.

In your choice to move on, your contributions will become even greater and more profoundly appreciated with others because of the difference you made amid the personal or asserted limitations.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space it is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” — Viktor Frankl —
