In general, we would prefer to have others appreciate and even admire each of the actions that we take. As humans, we tend to want approval. Yet, we know in reality that approval from the masses will rarely, if ever, happen. The actions that you take are yours alone to own, irrespective of the fleeting and scattered opinions of others.
Better to know for yourself the actions that you will confidently take as you pursue your purpose. Look only to yourself for the final assurance that this is the right action to take at the right time. Confer with trusted others for guidance, but base your final decision to act from within yourself. Others may or may not approve of your actions in the end, but you will know that you did the right thing in that moment.
“If you are ever tempted to look for outside approval, realize that you have compromised your integrity. If you need a witness, be your own.” — Epictetus —
