Family Tradition

A family tradition is a thing that you and others value together enough to repeat it over and over again. The tradition connects a group of people in these meaningful experiences so that they may be a part of it as well. Each person draws something different from it, but all look forward to recreating and adding to it again.

Traditions will grow and evolve over time if they are to continue on. New persons and ideas are added as a family grows. The group takes personal ownership and considers their contributions to it and their engagement with it to be very important. The culture and makeup of the family persists to be continuously demonstrated within it. The tradition becomes very intentional, yet hard to define to others that haven’t experienced it for themselves.

Our family has a tradition around Christmas that is very special to us. It brings an occasion to share a meaningful experience together. As a reflection of the members within it, the tradition connects admiration, competition, sarcasm, laughter, memories shared, great food together and a strengthening of bonds with one another in all of these moments. I look forward to the next one already, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree; the presence of a happy family wrapped up in each other.” — Bill Vaughan —
