It’s quite easy to have empathy for another in a situation similar to yours. You inherently know and understand their plight because it is just like yours.
When another is in a situation that you are not aware of or can liken yourself to through experience, empathy is harder to find. You’d have to extend yourself to empathize deeper in your heart if you had never been there yourself.
To feel the challenges of another, we must more deeply relate and connect with people. To feel their challenges and to then work to console, to inspire and to empower them to find a better place with you. A positive energy exudes from a shared understanding with a genuine sense of empathy where all can more completely move forward together.
Look, listen and take in more deeply to understand, rather than remain disengaged. All have challenges in life that we know of or not, no need to be so hard on one another.
“Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?” — Macus Aurelius —
