The unfortunate thing bout making progress is that it will only be earned when we meet resistance. No resistance, no change and therefore no progress. If we were to always strive to do things without resistance, we stop learning and growing.
To open the mind, to make new decisions and to act upon these decisions is to look for the resistance rather than hide from it. A muscle will atrophy if it experiences no strain, as is the same for the mind. If you truly want to progress, seek out the resistance that you will need to overcome. In the deviation of the actions we take there is a chance to progress.
Were you to have resolved to make a change in the new year, list what resistance you are seeking on top of the end result you hope for. Change can’t be hoped for, it is better scheduled to discover resistance.
