Recognition

To recognize another for something they have done on your behalf is really very simple to do. All you would have to do is to put the a genuine description of what you felt into words. Nothing extraordinary required, just a simple thank you with a brief description of what you appreciated.

To be recognized yourself is not as simple, this process we do not control alone. Our focus should remain to be on our goals and our production of value and not to be pecking around for compliments. Doing a job well, in alignment with surrounding conditions and relationships, is all that we do control.

A person that regularly shares appreciation for others is more likely to receive reciprocal praise. Act to do well and to recognize others that help you to do so and the gratitude of others will take care of itself. Remember, recognition is only a brief thought put into relational words.

“Nothing else can quite substitute for a few well-chose, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They’re absolutely free and worth a fortune.” — Sam Walton —
