Compulsion is essentially following a course of action without a concentrated decision made. There is little effort to discern why or how we will proceed, we just proceed.
Others are doing it this way, so it must be the right thing to do so. It’s just easier to follow the herd. We pass through both mundane and chaotic situations each day without pausing to consider the better outcome that we would achieve with better actions. We just do things.
Stop to think if you are rationally thinking and learning your way through life by reasoned decisions. By actively directing your life, you become a continuous learner that is capable of making better decisions that produce better outcomes. Recall your purpose in life and apply learning toward that end.
“Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion obtains no hold on the mind.” — Plato —
